Lake Tahoe is the largest freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada. It straddles the state line between California and Nevada, with about two thirds of the shoreline being in California. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. It is 1,645 ft deep, making it the second deepest lake in the United States after Crater Lake, and the 16th deepest lake in the world. The lake was formed about 2 million years ago as part of the Lake Tahoe Basin. About 2.7 million people visit Lake Tahoe every year to enjoy winter sports, summer outdoor activities, and beautiful scenery.
Concord is a city in the East Bay, about 29 miles east of San Francisco. Founded in 1869, it is a major suburb of the city of San Francisco. In 1967, the City of Concord acquired 29 acres sandwiched in between South Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake, and Camp Concord was built. Since then, the camp has offered a variety of programming including family vacations, youth summer camps, and adult activities.
For guests flying to the wedding, the closest major airports are Reno International Airport (65 miles, 90 minutes) or Sacramento International Airport (105 miles, 2 hours). We recommend renting a car or carpooling with other guests – There’s plenty of natural beauty to explore surrounding the camp.

Get on I-80 East to Sacramento. As you approach Sacramento you’ll pass over the Yolo Bypass wildlife area: stay in the left hand lanes and continue straight onto US-50 E. Follow US-50 carefully for many miles– the drive is stunning and the cliffs are tall. When you reach Lake Tahoe Boulevard, continue straight on US-89 North. In 3.9 miles, turn left on Mt Tallac Road and follow signs for Camp Concord.

Get on I-580 South to Carson City. After passing Carson City, continue straight as it becomes US-50 West. Drive carefully through Carson Pass and enjoy the sights. Continue on I-50 West as it takes you around Lake Tahoe, and then turn left on US-89 North (Emerald Bay Road). In 3.9 miles, turn left on Mt Tallac Road and follow signs for Camp Concord.
